Arrrgh me hearties... we've had a great day today. We all dressed up as pirates and we learned how to talk like a pirate. Pirates talk in gruff low voices, and accentuate their 'rrr's. They also say vowels longer that usual. For example. "Rrrroom Twoooo had a greaaaat dayyyy todayyy."
We made treasure maps this morning and sang a Pirate song for reading time today. After morning tea the Southland Express came into our room to take some photos for the paper! Hopefully they will be in the paper next week. We also learned about writing descriptions, and we described what a pirate is like. Our stories will be up on the wall by the end of the week.
After writing we played 'Walk the plank' in the fitness playground. One pirate had to walk off the deck while the sharks were circling around below. Only a few pirates made it to land without being eaten!
After lunch we did our phonics work, and of course we learned about the blend 'ar', like in are, arm, park and start. All pirates should know how to write that sound. We have also started on our calenders, ready to show the parents on Fair day. I wonder what the pictures will be of?.....
