Term 3 Week 8

We have been so busy that we haven't even had time to update this blog! I have had laryngitis for a week, so there have been a few relievers as well.

We have completed a letter writing unit and the children learned about letters needing a date, they need to have "Dear..." and "From...". They also learned that it is a good idea to ask a question in the letter, because then the other person has to write back to you. We practised writing to each other, Santa, the All Blacks, Mums and Dads, Grandparents, teachers and even to Cookie Muncher. We were very surprised a couple of weeks later when we received a big red box from Cookie Muncher. He works at Cookie Time and he sent us a great letter for the children, and enough cookies for both Rooms 1 and 2 for morning tea! He even sent us a Cookie Muncher toy for us to keep. Our letter is up on our wall in Room 2. Since we had a new Cookie Muncher toy we thought that it would be great for him to visit the children at home, and record his adventures in his own blog. We have also been using KidPix to help represent our ideas, and become a little more creative on the computers. We watched 'Dumbo' and then the children thought about how Dumbo could be used once he was all grown up. Those big flying ears could be very handy!
